Bamberg old town beer walk

This route is designed as a simple old-town walk. It connects central Bamberg breweries and brewpubs without turning the day into a rigid drinking challenge. A good first route for discovering Bamberg through beer.

Why this route?

  • A compact introduction to Bamberg as a brewing city: Spezial, Fässla, Schlenkerla context, Klosterbräu, Ambräusianum and Sternla.
  • old town and Sandstraße area
  • Classic starter route
Planning note

A first walk through Bamberg’s beer city

This walk follows short distances through the old town and Sandstraße area. The town hall, Regnitz and cathedral hill set the rhythm; two or three open brewery taverns are enough for a complete day.

Recommended pace

Leave time for the city and a meal. Two to four well-chosen breweries are enough, with walks and long pauses between them.

Tweak this route

  • With limited time, keep it to the old town and Sandstraße area.
  • For smoked beer, begin with Spezial or Schlenkerla.
  • For groups, reserve instead of hoping spontaneously.
