A trip from Forchheim or Bamberg may use a seasonal leisure bus, bicycle, taxi or sober driver; the last return belongs in the plan before the first stop.
Hallerndorf is a whole municipality
A visitor reading “Hallerndorf” in a beer list can easily imagine one compact village. The municipality actually contains several villages and cellar areas. Kreuzberg is on a hill; Stiebarlimbach, Schnaid and Schlammersdorf are separate places. One address within the municipality may be several kilometres from the next.

Kreuzberg: pilgrimage and cellars
Kreuzberg combines a chapel and pilgrimage history with several hospitality businesses on the hill. Brauhaus am Kreuzberg is one named address. Other Keller in the area are independently operated. “On Kreuzberg” does not mean that they have one owner or one shared opening calendar.
A Kreuzberg day can contain the ascent, time on the hill and one selected meal. Anyone wanting to compare several cellars should establish which are actually serving and whether the paths suit the group. Return transport does not automatically begin where the walk ends.
Stiebarlimbach, Schnaid and Schlammersdorf
Roppelt’s Keller in Stiebarlimbach, the Lieberth addresses in the municipality and Witzgall in Schlammersdorf occupy different village locations. They are possible stops on a deliberately chosen walking or cycling route. They should not be presented like neighbouring tables on the same cellar hill.
For a single inn visit, choose the exact address, confirm kitchen and beer service with the business and plan the return from that place. Anyone walking between villages should use a published route rather than drawing a line between brewery names.

Without a car
VGN leisure buses can serve the area seasonally. They do not operate like a frequent urban bus and do not run every day of the year. An outward timetable is not enough; the last suitable return determines which Keller is reachable. Outside the season, options include a taxi, cycling with no alcohol, staying overnight or an alcohol-free driver.
Hallerndorf or Forchheim?
Hallerndorf is the more rural choice: several villages, paths and seasonal cellars. Forchheim provides a station, old centre and the Kellerwald within walking distance. A traveller wanting a straightforward first cellar day without a car will usually find Forchheim easier. A particular Hallerndorf business or walk deserves its own day.
