Begin with Teufelshöhle, the castle or a landscape walk, then stop at one well-chosen brewery inn. The City of Pottenstein currently lists Mager in the centre and Säger-Bräu in Weidenloh as active breweries; Bruckmayers Urbräu is a museum brewery. Hufeisen does not appear in the current list of active businesses.

Pottenstein in Franconian Switzerland
Pottenstein connects cliffs, day-trip feeling and beer addresses without being a classic brewery town.

Pottenstein is primarily a landscape destination

Pottenstein sits among limestone cliffs, the Püttlach valley, a castle and the Teufelshöhle cave. It suits a cave or walking day with a meal, not a brewery circuit. The municipal brewery list currently names Mager in the centre and Säger-Bräu in Weidenloh as active breweries. They are not part of one compact town walk.

Teufelshöhle, castle and old centre

Teufelshöhle is a guided show cave with its own season, admission arrangements and temperature. If it is the main purpose of the journey, begin with an available tour time. The castle stands above the town and is a separate destination with an ascent. The old centre and Püttlach valley fill the space between them without requiring several distant beer addresses.

A cave visit and a longer walk can already fill a day. The official cave site publishes the tour and admission times; check it for the date of the visit.

Brauerei Mager in the centre

Mager is the direct brewery address for a Pottenstein town day. The business is in the centre and combines beer with hospitality. A meal can therefore follow the cave, castle or a short valley walk when the current serving day fits.

A central brewery does not imply unrestricted access to production. Beer service, kitchen, shop and brewery tour are different offers and should be confirmed with the operator.

Säger-Bräu in Weidenloh

Säger-Bräu lies in the outlying district of Weidenloh and is associated with the leisure and hospitality offer there. Reaching it requires a drive, cycle ride or deliberately selected walk. It is an alternative to the central town day, not merely the next walking stop after Mager.

A visit to Weidenloh should shape that day. The cave and old town can occupy the previous or following day, particularly when the evening return is limited.

Hufeisen and Bruckmayers Urbräu

Older articles and directories name Hufeisen brewery. The current municipal list does not present it as active, so it should not appear as a planned serving stop. Bruckmayers Urbräu is classified as a museum brewery. Historic brewing equipment and a hospitality business are not the same as an active production brewery.

Two complete day formats

DayMorningAfternoon and meal
Town and caveTeufelshöhleold centre or castle, then Mager
Weidenloh and landscapewalk or leisure activitySäger-Bräu and return from Weidenloh

For families or groups with different interests, the first format is usually simpler: cave, cliffs and town are shared content, while beer remains the meal stop. Without a car, search the complete outward and return journey to Pottenstein or Weidenloh rather than only the nearest town connection.
